Manifest Destiny outlines

In class today you were given a timeline and outline for the manifest destiny. Please take some time to go over the two packets.

This will provide you a solid foundation as we move through the information in it. It will also offer you an opportunity to make notes based on these comprehensive ideas.

What did you learn today about the Manifest Destiny and our westward expansion?

Post to this entry now... continue the class conversation.

Today i learned that the Louisiana purchases land had thirteen colonies and was thought to be a place where humans weren't fit to live even tough the land was very fertile and they also thought that the place was not suited for farming and then called it a dessert. The land was explored first by Lewis and Clark but there info wasn't the best, so some other people went to explore and took some artists with them to sketch because there were new things there.

Today in class, I learned a lot. I learned that when America first got the Louisiana purchase, they thought of it as a dry, useless piece of land and it was not a place to live. Many people went to explore the land such as scientists, traders, and even artists. The land also made thirteen colonies and it made America twice as it was before.

In class I learned that the Louisiana Purchase stretched out the country by thirteen states.Wyoming up to the north edges and I think Texas to California. When explores (other than Lewis and Clark) went to the west with artists; they saw only a part where it seemed like a useless desert--not knowing that the ground was fertile enough to grow crops. It was purchased from the French by Thomas Jefferson, the president at the time.

Today, I learned A LOT about the Westward expantion. I found that the Louisiana Purchase helped us create 13 more states! Thomas Jefferson had sent Lewis and Clark to explore the land the U.S invested in.

At first, they thought it to be useless and not good for farming. However, they bought the land, because they thought it would be "good enough" for the indians (native americans).

I certainly learned alot in class today. I learned that the Louisiana Purchase was made of thirteen different colonies which made the United States expand (thats why its called the westward expansion.) I also learned that the Americans (us) kicked the Indians out of their land without permission and took their land from them and started to trade it. They also thought that what is now called a dessert was not a good enough place for farming. Another thing i learned about the Louisiana purchase is that when they first got the land, they thought of it as useless and dry but they didnt know that it was good enough to grow crops.

I learned a lot in class today. Like what Lawrence said, we learned that the Louisians Purchase land had thirteen colonies. I also learned that the Louisians Purchase helped United States double its size. When Thomas Jefferson first bought the land people thou7ght that the land was very useless because the land was too bad to grow crops, but later on they thought it's good enough. I also learned that the land was the native americans and the people treated like they weren't even part of America.

Today I learned a lot about the Westward Expansion and the Manifest Destiny. I'm still a little confused about what the manifest destiny is...is it the entire time period the outline showed? Anyways, I learned a lot about basically the trouble we were having with Mexico at that time. The problem that was happening was that we were trying to take the area which is now known as Texas. This later caused the Battle of the Alamo which is famous but I'm not exactly sure why. I also learned that in the 1800's, America was a very isolated nation who still allowed slavery ever since England abolished slavery in their colonies.

H.W: Manifest Destiny:
Today in class, I learned more about the Louisianna purchase. People were sent to take a look at the new land. There was Indians living on it but the Americans kicked them out to the west. The Americans investigated the land and thought it was going to be useless. It looked like a desert. They thought it would at least be a good border for their country. The land was near the Mississippi river and the rocky mountain.

I had learned a lot about the westward expansion in class today. I learned that the louisana purchase had helped us creates 13 of our states. Louis and Clark had to explore the land that the United States had invested in. At first they weren't really impressed with the land, but then they thought it would be good for farming.

Today I learned a lot about the westward expansion but, so far I am not completely sure about the Manifest Destiny. I know that the Louisiana purchase pretty much first started the expansion of the West. Many easterners thought very wrong about the west, which actually had very fertile land but, was mistaken for more like a desert than farming material. I would have to say that some parts in the west has desert land but not completely.

Today in class, I learned many interesting things about the westward expansion. As my topic for the exit blog project is the Louisiana Purchase, I found it very interesting that the land of the Louisiana Territory later became thirteen states. I also learned that the people living in our country when Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory did not really give much thought to exploring it until later. When the people finally decided to explore it, they explored it pretty well, but gave out some very bad information, telling others that the land was a giant desert and that it was “uninhabitable.” Fortunately for us though, we later realized that there was a lot of good land there. I hope to learn more on this topic.

Today i learned so much. At first I was so lost because i did't know what the westward expansion was but after Ms.G read us the story i got the point of it. I learned that the US, England, Spain and France bought land from each other that really belonged to the indians, I thought it was very unfair. I also learned that Lewis and clark were sent to explore the land that belonged to the US by Thomas Jefferson, and that the Louisiana purchase helped us get 13 states . I'm still a little confused about the Manifest Destiny but i think if i learn more about it, it will be more understanding.

I learned alot about the west ward expantion and how the indians "native americans" kept geetin pushed and moved west because the "new americans" thought there was more space out west for them. I was also surprised about the way the England, Spain, and France were buying land from eachother when it did not even belong to them it belonged to the indians.
