Philadelphia

Those of you who attended Wednesday's trip, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I feel like it was a great opportunity to learn through creating experiences of your own.

Please take some time to reflect on your experiences...

What did you learn? What did you like the best? What surprised you? What would you like to return to see at another time? Would you have liked to spend more time anywhere?

Please post to this blog.

I had a lot of fun on our trip to Philadelphia! I learned what printing presses were like and hoe people worked in them. It was interesting going into the Quaker churches and listening to a Quaker talk. The thing that I liked the best was when I went to the place with the statues of the signers of the Constitution. It surprised me that the people took the time to give the statues expressions, and didn't just leave them dull and expressionless. I would definitely like to go there another time! Next time though, I would like to take better pictures of the things there to show my family. There were some times that I would have rather been elsewhere, like being on line to see the Liberty Bell, but most of the time, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. I really enjoyed my time there!

I had fun on the trip to Philly. I had many favorite parts. One of them was the Quaker church. Another was the Printing Shop. I would of like to spent more time eating. We were a little bit rushed. I would of also liked to see the movie that we were suppossed to see.

I thought that the trip was very fun. Like Jonathan, I also learned a lot there and I found the experience very enjoyable. When I first arrived at 6:30, i thought "Wow this is going to be a probably boring day." My thoughts soon changed as I got there. I was very impressed by how old the buildings were and how the old buildings had "shoe scrapers". The most interesting part was the printing shop, I was amazed that people used to print this way. Pressing paper after paper and then drying them! The dull part of the trip was the walking, the sun kept shining on me so it felt like I was burning. I soon forgot my experience of walking as soon as I saw the liberty bell, it was very cool and I suprised that it was still intact. I would definity want to go back with my family sometime. I would show them the Quaker meeting houses and the old buildings and many other things! I thought that this trip was really fun and that the class all learned something new!

i think the trip was fun
my favorite part was when we walked though the little quackers houses. Also when we saw where they showed us how they printed papper. another place is where we got to be a president and got to vote in the booths. I wasn't really thrilled to see the liberty bell because when i saw it looked fake.

The trip was great and i learned so much on how there equipment back then, such as there shoe scrappers and there printing presses. The last area we went to was great and had so many great sculptures and machines, but we didn't get to see the show that we were supposed to. I also learned that they had recopied the liberty bell a few times and that it was copied by pots and pans makers. Oh and i also thought the liberty bell there looked fake and it was a lot smaller than i expected.

I had a lot of fun on the trip, to be able to be in a setting of what it actually looked like back then was a good eye opener. It was interesting to know that people actually still live in the famous alley which the name I forgot. To see churches that still hold sessions was something I thought would be interesting to see how they held their meetings. The man who gave us the lecture of the small Quaker meeting house was something that I enjoyed. Something that we could've spent more time on was maybe going through more of the museum and maybe seeing the show that we missed. The exhibit I had most fun in was in the room with all the me who signed the Declaration. The way they were positioned to make seem real and on spot help a little to get the feel of what the men were doing in when they were all together and discussing issues, some seemed to go head to head on the ideas others looked like they agreed. Walking around that historic place was an experience that I hope not to forget.

I had al lot of fun on the trip. I loved all the beautiful sites that we saw and went to. I would of liked to watch the show, but we didn't get up on time. Other than that, I thought it was very interesting.

One very interesting thing I learned was old fashioned Fire Insurance planks hanging on the houses. I would have liked to see more places like the Quaker House which was very interesting and also showed me things I never knew. The most exciting part of course was being able to take pictures of the old Liberty Bell.
