I think columbus day should be a holiday because it reminds us the day that the first europeans came to our land. its a day that reminds us that if it weren't for christepher columbus, our country would be nothiun but just a floating piece of land that no one would now about.

We celebrate Columbus day because Christopher Columbusdiscovered the United States When he sailed the 3 ships, the Pinta, the Nina and the Santa Maria. It became a holiday on, October 12, 1866. I don't think that Columbus Day should be a holiday, only because he really wasn't the one who discovered America. The real people who did were the Native Americans.

Why do we celebrate Columbus Day? We celebrate
Columbus Day because it is a holiday celebrating the
arrival of Christopher Columbus from his home Spain to the
Americas.

When did it become a holiday? Columbus Day became
a holiday in 1792 it was celebrated in New York City.

Should it be a holiday? I think Columbus Day
should be a holiday. I think this because of all that
Columbus sacrificed to take this voyage also it gives a
lot of people breaks because Monday is no school and
usually fathers and mothers take off work and celebrate
with their families. This is why I think Columbus Day
should be a holiday.

I dont think that Columbus day should be a holiday because even if he didn't find it, someone would eventually find it. The natives were also there already so there were people on America. Christopher Columbus just got there by luck.

We celebrate Columbus Day because,Columbus Day celebrates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus arriving at the Americas on Oct.12 1492.Columbus was tying to find a route to India. He didn't find India but he found a whole new continent. There were earlier visitors so that means Columbus did not discover America. He was the only visitor that went and told everyone he knew and made plans to go back.
Columbus Day became a holiday when President Franklin made it a holiday on Oct.12.
I think Columbus Day should be a holiday. It was an important day when America was discovered. Why would it not be important to celebrate the day your country was found?

Columbus Day should be a holiday because that is the day Christopher Columbus found a wonderful land that is now America. So if it wasn’t for him we will not be here today. So I think it’s very important that we celebrate this day. We are supposed to celebrate what he got us and what he made us be in this world. So I’m glad we celebrate Columbus Day, it is also a holiday for Columbians.

I think Columbus Day should be a holiday because if it wasn't christopher columbus, we wouldn't be living here and it's mysterious where we would be living right now. Also becuase if it wasn't christopher columbus, America will be a land no one will never know.

Columbus day was originally on October 12th since 1937, but in 1971 president Franklin Roosevelt changed it to the 2nd Monday of October so that workers and scholoars could have a 3 day weekend. Columbus first settled on America though, on October 12th of 1492. I think that Columbus day should remain a holiday because without Columbus' mistake, there wouldn't be an America as it is today. We celeberate Columbous day to remind us of when the settlers first landed on North America.

We celebrate Columbus Day in honor of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. In 1892 we started to celebrate Columbus Day. I think it should be a holiday because we get off from school and because people should recognize what Columbus did.
