Tonight's Homework - After the MET - Happy Halloween
Think about our trip to the museum today. What pieces of art stuck out the most for you? Why did they resonate for you? What did you learn on your tour? Really reflect on the experience of going to the museum... post your thoughts to this blog.
I thought the place that stuck out the most for me was the big shrine of the gods that was surrounded by water which was supposed to be the Nile river. i thought it was really cool how it was brought in from Egypt. i was told that it was taken apart and put together again in the museum like a puzzle.
I thought the trip to the museum today was a fun one!!!!!!! I enjoyed it and thought it was interesting!!!!!!!!! I would highly recommond this musem. My favorite paint was the pianting because I love piantings so much!!!!!! I grow up with a artice in my family. so i know what painting metrail they used and if it was smooth or not smooth. I learned about how the stautes tell a story and it was natural for the men and women to pose with no clothing.
I thought that the trip was very fun. All the arifacts were very interesting to learn about and just see how long they had survived through all these years. The one that i like the best first one my group saw which was in the greek gallery. It was a picture of a man and of a little girl. It had heiroglyphics and i think these two people have passed away. I thought it was very interesting.
I had a great time. I enjoyed seeing the samurai and the knights. I also enjoyed looking at the greek statues. It was great to see how french kings lived. I had a great time.
This was a great trip!I really liked the glass painting. It was the most colorful piece of art.I liked how there was so much bright colors, like pink green and blue.It looked nice on glass. That was my favorite. It would make a good window. In the museum I also saw a statue that look like it was sweating the tour guide said there was still moisture in the wood it was made out of.So the lights or temperature in the room was making the statue sweat. One painting by Pacaso showed a girl who was reading and looking sad. There was a lot of colors in that painting that showed her feelings. There was colors like dark blue and a lot of black because she was sad.I think we learned a lot from the museum. It was a fun way yo learn!
I really enjoyed the trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art because there were so many things to see there. Today, I learned that there are so many different types of art in this world. The Greeks made their art out of stone, while the Africans made their art out of wood, because they have plenty of wood that they can use in Africa. You can also create art on different things, such as canvases or stain glass. The peice of art that stood out the most for me was the stain glass painting of a man and a woman getting married. That peice of art stood out the most for me because it was made out of stain glass. It really amazes me how you can even make art out of glass. That peice of art must have taken a really long time to create! I hope that I go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in my next year at WJPS!
Today at the MET, I saw many beautiful and interesting peices. I had so much fun there. One of the peices that caught my eye was the 3D statue of cupid. It was the first work of art that the tour guide showed us and talked about. What I liked about it was the details and that it was so lifelike. I also liked the tapestry which was a rug that was made that looked like a painting. It wasn't meant to be on the floor it is to hang up on the wall as a painting. All tapestry had a mythological story meaning, it was made with a setting and gods and goddesses. People would sit and tell stories of the gods. That is what I found interesting today at the MET.
Every time I go to the MET, I am amazed at the beautiful and incredible artifacts that they have for us to see.
It's fascinating to me how our docent was able to select a few pieces of art for us. What I thought was great was the fact that she made sure to show us many different mediums all within the same theme of the human form as seen through many different cultures. It seemed that the Greeks viewed human beings as beautiful and the center of the world. The Africans viewed angular structures and weight as strength. Picasso, made use of the African form and took it to the next level and the French stained glass was alittle more "normal".
Today, I have to say that two pieces in particular really caught my attention. I really enjoyed the power sculptor in the African section. The sweating of the wood was really fascinating and the piece itself was visually stimulating. The color and the detail really caught my attention. I was drawn to the sweating and the fact that I couldn't explain why it happened.
Ultimately though I was drawn to the Picasso. There was something in the color and shapes that really expressed a sadness that I could connect with. I've often sought the solace of a book when I've felt trapped and there was something about Picasso's painting that touched that spot in me.
today i saw alot of itresting stuff but the thing that stuck out the most was the acient greek art because it was very big and also intresting i could look at that all day and it will still keep me intrested thats what i think stuck out the most yu$ef

Today, I was very interested in the artwork that I had seen. The African statue really did look pregnant, and the Picasso painting was really sad. It made me sad just to look at it. That's one of the reasons that I didn't like it as much as I did some of the other things For me, the stain glass window really stood out. I felt there was something about the woman in the pink dress that made me shiver. It reminds me of in books, when there is a character who seems good, but they are actually evil and try to make the main charcter fail in what they are trying to do. The woman in the pink dress reminds me of this. I like this kind of artwork because it is mysterious. It makes you wonder IF What your seeing is what the artist meant you to see, or if there is a secret hidden within the art. I relly loved it!
Today was really cooool and fun. When I went there it looked really boring but when i started the tour it was so fun. I liked the Greek sculptures. The guide told us about one sculpture and it was about a daughter sent to the ocean to be eaten by a sea monster becuase her mother said that she is more beautiful than the sea gods daughters. The daughters got mad at her and the sea god punished the mother and the mother had to give her daughter to the sea monster and the daughter was facing up for a hero to come to save her. I like those kinds of sculpture becuase I like hearing about stories and the sculptures tell me a lot of stories. I also liked the mask that was a mother of one of the kings. I learned that women had scarification that means beauty.(they have 2 scars on their forehead) I also liked the warriors and the samurais because i liked how their armors looked like and it was very cool. I thought the armor that samurais wear looks really heavy but the guide told us that samurais have to run really quick and fast so they wear really light armor and the armors that they wear is really light. I really want to go their with my family and explain to them about what i learned from the guide.=]
Today at the museum, I saw two pieces of artwork that I really liked and stood out the most. One of the pieces that I saw was a beautiful stained glass picture. It was very bright and colorful with reds, greens, pinks, oranges and blues. It was very detailed, (you could see the folds and shadows in the dresses), and the scene was very alive. It looked like a party or a wedding. This piece showed as if it told a story. The people were dancing and playing music. However, they weren’t all smiling. Some of them had a mischevious look on their faces. It was like they were gossiping. The painting by Pablo Picasso was sad and dark compared to the stained glass picture. This picture showed a girl sitting at a desk, reading, and looking distraught. It looked like someone special died. The colors were dark and gloomy, and the shapes and lines were all curvy and misplaced. Overall I really enjoyed this trip, and I learned a lot. I hope to go back and visit again!
Your reflections and comments impressed me tonight. Rather than a piece of artwork standing out, the aesthetic experience as a whole filled me with awe, the beauty and mystery of all of the art, within the beauty of the museum itself (also art -- the art of architecture)is what will stay with me. Not to mention the fantastic time I had learning with and being with all of you.
What really stuck out he most for me was the piccaso paiting because I love that type of art. I always love the expresions that Picasso paints on the people. He always makes them look so realistic and sad. He is not my most favorite artist I wish we could have seen more at the museum. My favorite artists are Norman Rockwell, I have tons of his paintings and I also like Edgar degas. I also like Pierre- Agutse Renoir, Matisse, gorgia o'keffe,Monet and, van Gogh. Si wish we coul hav had more time to look at the paintings. I also liked the statue of the powerful african man. I thought it was really interesting how the moisture from the wood made it look like it was sweating. That kind of creeped me out. And also looked like it was crying. I really enjoyed the trip to the MET.

The part of the museum that I enjoyed the most was the french mansion. They actually brought all that furniture over from Fance. In that little gallery if the mansion, the room that I loved the most was the the kings room. Mostly because of how big it was and how tall the bed was. I learned that they had 100 more rooms like that one in their mansion. It amazed me that so many things were their found buried, or were sent over by various different countries.
I thought the pieces of art stuck out the most for me was the two big temples or shrines used to worship and sacrifice the gods. I could actually feel like I'm in Egypt near the cool Nile River and seeing pharoahs worshiping their gods. The docent also said that the shrine had to taken apart in order to bring it to America. Then it put back together in the museum.
what i think adout the trip for today.was pretty good i didnt like most of the art work there. the biggest thing i like was the medevil times i was very in to it.i learned alot for that part of the trip i love it!!!!!!
The parts that stuck to me most were the egyptian buildings, midieval armor, flags and weapons and the samurai armor even though we just passed through it. I liked the egyptian part because i was amazed that they took it apart and put it together in the museum. I liked the midieval things because i've always been interested in things like that and it was so cool how they made the weapons and they had to have about 200 peices of armor to be flexible. Lastly I liked the samurais because again i've always been interested in things like that and I never saw real armor before. I am so glad we went on that trip. I never would have known that a trip to a museum would be that fun.
I enjoyed the trip but felt their was so much more to see. I liked every thing. The first thing i was shown was the african mask's which were very detailed which was enjoyable to see. The most intresting piece of artwork I think was the french houses. I was informed that in some palaces for the french kings their were hundreds of rooms and that the rooms were big and buetiful. After that I saw a painting of a young french king oh started riening when he was 5 i believe.
i thought that the statue of cupid stuck out the most. it was cool to see the real statue of cupid. but i thought the statue would be more sophisticated.
The one thing that stood out at the trip was the African Art. I really liked the wooden statue that had all those pockets. I thought it was cool that you can store food in it and also admire it. I thought having it in wood was great and how it looked like it was sweating was the best. It must of been some special kind of wood, and the best thing was, it was a woman. Just one thing I want to know, is what village was it founded in?
I really enjoyed the trip to the museum!! I deffinatley learned a lot. Some pieces of art that stuck to me the most were the stained glass window, and the grave stone of megacliese. I thought that the stained glass window of the engangment party had a story behind it because it seemed very misterious and interesting. The grave stone of megacliese stuck to me because seeing such a great sculpture like that made me think of who megacliese was and his personality. What made him so special to have such a big grave stone like the one he had? ~Emma~
I learned alot from our trip to the Metropolitan Museum. I was fascinated with the way the ancient Egyptians worshipped their own gods. I learned that they put their shrines near the nile river.I also thought it was amazing how they brang the Egyptian shrine to America from egypt and put it back together.

The trip to the met was interesting to me in many ways but above all, the Greek and Medieval art was the most interesting because they were large to scale and showed a lot about the cultures like their mythology.
